Saturday’s meet took 12 hours to get through. There were 3 lightning delays that lasted anywhere from 1 to 2 hours each.

Two TKHS girls came away with All State Honors. 1st through 8th place at State is considered ALL STATE.

Claudia Wilkinson came away in a 5 way tie for 2nd in the high jump. Jumping 5’2″ with two delays during competition, one 20 minute delay waiting for an athlete to return from her running event and jump at 4’11” and another 2 hour delay for lightning occurring during the 5’2″ jumps. Claudia cleared both 4’11” and 5’2″ on her first attempts which put her in position to take second.
Claudia also ran the 300 H placing 16th with a time of 49.08.

Kaylee Spencer took 7th in the 100 m dash. She also had to wait out a lightning delay during her prelims. She was just about to race when they sent the entire stadium to shelter for 2 hours to wait out the storm. When we returned she had to warm up again and was rushed a bit to get started again. She stayed focused and really ran well to get out of prelims and into the finals.
Kaylee also ran the 400 placing 14th with a time of 1:01.33

The 4×400 team made up of Jacklyn Morgan, Stephanie Pitsch, Claudia Wilkinson, and Kaylee Spencer ran a time of 4:13.17 for the last race of the meet. They took 19th.

Claudia and Kaylee also earned Academic All State honors along with Paige Zellmer who qualified and jumped at State in the pole vault.

The girls did an amazing job and I could not be more proud of them. The weather and delays made for a very long day, but some wonderful bonding time.
