The Middleville ladies tennis team had an outstanding regional tournament finishing in fourth place out of nine teams. The Trojans finished one point short of qualifying for the state tournament in the very strong Grand Rapids Christian Regional. Final results show a four team race at the top and a five team group at the bottom of the standings. The Trojans were eliminated by the top seeds six times, the two seed once and won one regional title.

We felt that 15 points were possible if we won all matches where we were favored and two matches where our opponents were slightly favored. If we could score 15 points we would still need three upsets to qualify for state by scoring 18 points. We got all fifteen points and added two upsets. Brooke Thompson (fourth singles) picked up two additional points with upsets over Catholic Central (1st seed) and Forest Hills Eastern ( second seed) to finish the day with 17 of the 18 needed to qualify.

We had outstanding performances from Rachel Chesnutt and Brooke Thompson in the first round in what was expected to be two close matches. Both of the Trojan singles players won by wide margins against Grand Rapids Christian and Hastings.
