TK opened the 2018 tennis season by defeating Wayland 8-0 in a conference opener. Singles players were dominant with Grace Brown leading the way. The VanGessel sisters both shut out their opponents, and Karlie Raphael who moved from 4th doubles won her first singles match of the season with a solid performance.

Braelyn Durkee and Kylee Vreeland moved from third doubles last season to 1st doubles this year and were very solid at their new flight.

The rest of the doubles flight players are all new to the varsity level with the exception of Hannah Wright. Wright and Bashore found some energy late in the second set to come back from 1-5 to close to 4-5 before dropping the second set. They carried good energy into third set to close out the match with a win.

Myers and Chesnutt played a solid match after a shaky first set. Once they settled into their first match the ladies finished with a two set win.

The fourth doubles team of J. Thompson and Luepnitz played a very nice match winning in two solid sets. These two looked good together and should improve a great deal this season.

A total of 47 TK girls played matches tonight including the second team. In addition to the varsity matches the second team also won a number of matches. Philippe and I were very proud of every one of our girls tonight. We really enjoyed watching them improve and look forward to more improvement throughout the season.
