The trojans traveled to Gainey Complex to take on a tough Grand Rapids Christian team. The last time the two met the game ended in snow, along with a 0-0 tie. The trojans needed a win to keep their Conference Championship streak alive.
The trojans started the game strong with control of play and some great passing in the midfield. Tess Scheidel and Ellie Adams controlled the pace of play in the middle and found holes in the GRC defense which lead to several early opportunities for TK. The early pressure lead to TK leading 2-0 at the half. The first goal came at the 12:05 mark when Tess Scheidel controlled the ball in the middle and found Maddie Raymond up top. Maddie used her speed to beat a defender and the keeper to put the trojans up 1-0.
The trojans weren’t done and this time it was Kylie Adam’s turn. After a couple of great opportunities around the 20 minute mark which lead to one shot sailing wide and one high Kylie was bound to make the next one count. Maddie Raymond won a great 50/50 ball and played a through ball for Kylie. Kylie got around a defender and once again beat the keeper to put the trojans up 2-0.
The second half would see GRC settle in a little more which would lead to some better opportunities. After 20 minutes and a 2 goal lead the trojans felt in command but GRC began to put the pressure on TK. At the 20:46 mark a ball was won in the midfield by GRC. Finding TK’s keeper off their line she riffled a shot over the keepers head to cut the score to 2-1.
It was only 7 minutes later when Christian got the equalizer when another high placed shot went over the keepers hands to tie the game up. TK rallied back and had several opportunities at the end but couldn’t convert. The trojans move to 9-4-2 on the season and 5-2-2 in the conference. TK travels to South Christian on Thursday to take on the Sailors. Game time is at 6:45pm
