The trojans hosted Hamilton tonight for a non-conference match up. The first half was back and forth with the trojans getting some great opportunities to score but not able to finish. Hamilton’s hard fighting team would push the defense back in their defensive third but would hold strong with great defense and goal keeping by Grace Dewent.
Although the trojans had several shots on goal and even a few just wide they score remained 0-0 for most of the first half. At the 32:08 mark TK was fouled inside their offensive third. Defender Kassidy Niles lined up to take the kick and played a perfect ball into the box. Forward Kylie Adams headed a great ball across the box to her sister Sierah who headed it towards the back post where Carmen Beemer was there to clean it up and tap it in for the 1-0 lead heading into half.
In the second half it was more of the same where the trojans had several point blank opportunities but seemed to not be able to find the net. It was Hamilton’s toughness and resilience that allowed them to tie the game at the 18:50 mark on a deep shot about 30 yards out of the box. TK’s keeper wasn’t able to get enough on the ball which led to the goal.
TK continued to press Hamilton and wasn’t giving up. Finally at the 34:42 mark senior Kylie Adams found senior Tess Scheidel making a great run about 30 yards out. She placed a beautiful shot over the keepers hands to win the game 2-1.
Overall it was a great effort by all the girls tonight. TK is back home on Monday at 6:45pm when they will host East Grand Rapids for their second conference game of the year.
