It is amazing what happens when runners have a potentially fast course, cooler weather, and a very energic crowd. Great results can happen and on Saturday they did. The TK boys cross country team posted 13 personal best times. In the varsity team competition, the boys placed 8th, while the jv squad placed 4th in the second event. Many runners carried their momentum from Wednesday’s race onto the athletic grounds of Cedar Springs High School. The course was very fan friendly offering many opportunities to shout motivations to passing athletes. Nick Bushman set the pace for TK improving his personal best time by 29 seconds and medaling in 11th overall. Ashton Heiser, Camden Reynolds, Corbin Fleischmann, Howie Frizzell all ran to personal bests in the varsity race. In the junior varsity race, Brennan Lutz and Matthew Smith took home medals for their hard-fought efforts to the finish line. Cam Gavette, Remington Ludtke, Eric Archer, Jackson LaJoye, Mike Blair, and Anthony Kinne all ran to personal best. It was fun to watch them run strong smart races and this will help continue to build their confidence as we move through the season.
The TK Cross Country team next competes at the Otsego Bulldog Invitational on Saturday, September 29th. This will be the first time the TK Cross Country team competes at the Otsego Invitational and historically the competition is amazing, tough, and fast. The TK athletes are looking forward to competing against some of the best athletes in the area.
