The last meet of our season featured moments of sun, clouds, snow, sleet, lightning, and high winds. It also featured Miss Alli Joy Matison, having an amazing last hurrah for her high school career, by becoming the Barry County Championships overall winner. She was followed by scorers, sophomore Elizabeth Meyering, junior Sarah Possett, sophomore Audrey Meyering, junior Shy Robirds, junior Bree Bonnema, and freshman, Natalie OâRiley.
In the midst of the less than desirable weather, the girls ran the kind of race they needed to in order to get the win. The girls were understandably disappointed in not qualifying for state, and I am very proud of them for being the amazing people they are in that they set that aside that disappointment and put together a solid effort only two days later, to represent their community, their school, their team, their families, and themselves well.
I think itâs important that we ended our season on a high note. Itâs more fun to end with a little momentum in our back pocket.
