It was another tough day in the OK Gold for us. The girls ran hard, but we were bested by teams that were stronger on the day. We still need to keep our focus though as some of our key runners get healthy and fit once again, so that we can be the team we have the potential to be.
Elizabeth Meyering did a fabulous job leading the way once again for us, and for the most part we ran in strong packs, but we just donât have the pointy-end girl or girls that are going to allow us to score significantly lower right now.
It was good having seniors Alli Joy Matison and Lauren Lutz showing that they are indeed on their way back from their injuries, and are determined to significantly contribute to our teamâs efforts. Iâm hoping that they will continue to gain strength, confidence, and speed.
The girls we have are as tough as they come and they are hard workers, and I still believe we are in the hunt for a chance to make it to the state meet, but time will tell. We head to the Portage Invitational on Saturday, which will be the same course we race on for regionals. If nothing else, this will help us mentally to prepare for what is to come.
Today was a solid effort, but we want more and will be looking to improve on our efforts.
