Game Recap

It was a battle of the top two teams in the OK Gold and the game would not disappoint at all. Both teams came in needing a win to win the conference outright and a tie would make it so South would get a share of the conference and TK could join them with a win on Wednesday.

The game started off with TK controlling the pace of play and putting a lot of pressure on South’s defense. The best two opportunities for TK both were called back for off sides. The second off sides call was on a free kick when Reegan Edema played a great ball into the box for Kylie Adams who found the ball in the air and placed it in the back of the net only to be called off.

South would regain some control of the game and had a few great opportunities as well but the score would remain 0-0 at halftime.

In the second half it was more back and forth with each team trading opportunities. The defense for TK stepped up big. Breana Bouchard played an outstanding game for the trojans and saved several opportunities that South had to go up in the game. “Bre had the game of her life tonight. She is such a great player and works hard everyday. To see her come up this big in this type of game was rewarding for me to see. She has been playing great all year” said Coach Strickland. The entire defense would keep the sailors off the board and force overtime.

In the first overtime it was all South as they applied a lot of pressure to TK and would eventually find the net off a corner kick. As the first overtime ended TK’s seemed to hang their heads in defeat. The second overtime would prove the heart and passion this team has as they came out fired up and not willing to be denied a goal. After multiple shots on goal and lots of pressure on South’s keeper the equalizer came with 6 minutes left in the final OT. Alyvia Thorne crossed a ball in the air and Kylie Adams was there to head it in the back of the net to tie the game up. Although TK would have a few other chances the game would end in a 1-1 tie. This moves TK To 14-2-1 on the season and 9-1-1 overall. TK will travel to FHE on Wednesday where a win will clinch them a their straight season of being conference champs.
