Thornapple-Kellogg High School
Grand Rapids Christian High School
It was a big game for both teams tonight at Grand Rapids Christian just came off a big win over South Christian and were looking to spoil the Trojans chances of winning their 3 consecutive conference title. TK came into tonights game tied with South Christian as each team has 1 loss in the conference. TK needed a win tonight in order to remain on top.
The first half was a lot of back and forth with both teams getting opportunities. TK’s best chance came about 10 minutes into the game when Kylie Adams struck a great ball that seemed to be going in but shanked off the far post. After 40 minutes the game was 0-0.
The second half would start a lot different for the trojans as they came out fast. Just 53 seconds into the first half Taylor Pratt played a great ball up to Allexus Barnes. Barnes turned and found Alyvia Thorne making a great run. She played ball to Thorne who beat the keeper to make it 1-0. It didn’t take long for Thorne to return the favor to Barnes. At the 1:19 minute mark Maddie Hutchens made a save for TK and booted a ball well past mid field. Thorne took the ball and got to the end line where she played it in front for Barnes to slotted it to make it 2-0.
TK would continue to put a lot of pressure GRC but the final score was 2-0.
TK moves to 13-2 overall and 9-1 in the conference. TK travels to Hamilton tomorrow for a non-league game. Then on Monday will be the showdown for the OK Gold when South will travel to TK. If TK wins that game they will have at least a share of the conference. Game time on Monday is 6:45pm. Come out and support your trojans as they go for back-to-back-to-back conference championships.
