Game Recap

The trojans remained tied on top of the OK Gold with a big 1-0 win over East Grand Rapids. TK came out strong but give credit to EGR’s defense as they kept the trojans from scoring early in the game. Tonights lack of scoring wasn’t for a lack of shots as the trojans put 23 shots on EGR’s keeper. To her credit she played a great game and made some great saves.

The lone goal for the night came at the 28 minute mark when Alyvia Thorne found Sarah Possett who slotted a ball from left to right to make the game 1-0. TK’s defense would stand strong again tonight recording it’s 10th shutout of the season. Maddie Hutches notched the shutout in goal for the trojans on her birthday. “Maddie is playing great for us in the net this season. She has great senior leadership and does a great job” said Coach Strickland. “Our defense is playing some great soccer this year and all the girls in the back are playing great. It isn’t one person.” said Strickland. TK’s defense is 7 deep that includes 3 seniors (Hutchins, Pratt, Bouchard) 2 juniors (Edema & King) and 2 sophomores (Morgan and Niles)

With the win tonight TK moves to 12-2 on the season which is it’s best start in school history. TK also is 8-1 in the conference and tied for first place with South Christian. TK travels to Grand Rapids Christian on Thursday for another big conference match up. Game time is at 6:15pm at Gainey field at Calvin College.
