Game Recap

The trojans kept their conference championships alive with a big 5-0 win over Wayland tonight. From the beginning TK took control of the pace of play and put a lot of pressure on the Wayland defenders. With one goal being called off for off sides TK couldn’t manage to get on the board and finish. After wearing down the Wayland defense the midfield found Alyvia Thorne who played a great ball to Sierah Adams. Sierah received the ball and with a defender on her placed a gorgeous ball up and over the keepers hands to make it 1-0.

The half ended with the score remaining 1-0 but in the second half it was more of the trojans wearing down Wayland with the deep bench that TK has which played a huge role in the win tonight. “We have a great bench and really are 18 deep. Many teams play only 13 players and this really helps us in the second half remain fresh and put a lot of pressure on the other team. Our entire team did a great job of playing their role tonight and helping us get the win” said Coach Strickland.

It only took 12 minutes for trojans to make the score 2-0. This time it was Kylie Adams cleaning up a bobbled ball from the Wayland keeper that Sarah Possett shot. At the 23 minute mark began the Tess Scheidel show where she made the score 3-0. After the trojans were fouled in the Wayland defensive third Haley Dehaan noticed a great situation to do a quick start. She played a ball to Tess who fired it in to make it 3-0. Just 5 minutes later Tess would find her second goal of the night when Allexus Barnes dropped a ball to her just outside the 18. Tess fired a great shot up and over the keeper to make it 4-0. To seal the deal at the 37 minute mark Alyvia Thorne got her second assist of the night by beating a Wayland defender and finding Haley Dehaan as she made a great run through the box to poke it in.

TK moves to 11-2 on the year and 6-1 in the conference. TK has the rest of the week off and will resume play next week on Tuesday, May 16th when they face East Grand Rapids.
