TK hosted a tough FHE team on a raining night at Bob White Stadium but it didn’t slow the trojans down at getting another OK Gold Conference Win. This moves the trojans to 5-1 in the conference and 9-2 overall.
TK started the game out with much of the possession on the FHE’s defensive side but FHE stood tall and didn’t allow the trojans to penetrate their back line. Once the midfield for the trojans took control of the play Tess Scheidel found Haley Dehaan who juked 2 defenders and placed a great left footed shot in the right corner to make it 1-0 at the 14:40 mark. It would be more of the trojans building up play but not able to convert on FHE.
At the 27:39 mark sophomore Maddie Raymond beat a defender down the left line and got deep into the box. She played a perfect ball across the box to freshman Carmen Beemer who scored her first varsity soccer goal of her career. “It was a great ball by Maddie” said coach Strickland. “We talked before the game about that play right there and she executed it perfectly. It was awesome to see Carmen get her first goal as well” said Coach.
That was all the trojans would need to win the game but it wouldn’t come without a scare in the second half. After the trojans started the second half out strong they were not able to finish to put the game out of reach. FHE kept fighting and played with a lot of heart. At the 18:52 mark FHE took a low shot from outside the 18. Hutchins tried to make a play on the ball but it slipped through her hands to make the score 2-1.
As time expired you couldn’t help but notice a beautiful rainbow that came out which was a great way to finish the night.
TK’s next game is home on Wednesday as they begin the second round of conference play as they host Wyoming. Game time is 6:45pm.
