Wayland High School
Thornapple-Kellogg High School
The trojans kept the winning steak going with a big win over a tough Wayland team. Wayland and TK both came into the game on top of the conference and both teams were battling to stay on top.
The trojans carried play most of the game and had several opportunities in the first half. A good Wayland keeper kept them off the board though. Wayland had a few dangerous opportunities but TK’s defense played a great game led by seniors Taylor Pratt and Breana Bouchard. Kassidy Niles, Anna Morgan, Reegan Edema and Corissa King all played well tonight as well to keep the wildcats in check.
After one half the score was 0-0. TK came out in the second half and kept great possession with the ball rarely getting past mid-field. Wayland’s quick counter attack saw a few chances for them but again TK’s defense remained strong.
The Trojans went up 1-0 at the 9:22 mark when Haley Dehaan played a great ball to Kylie Adams who slotted it in to make it 1-0. It didn’t take long for the Wildcats to answer. In fact just 13 seconds and Wayland hit a shot from about 35 yards out over the Trojans keeper to make it 1-1.
The trojans kept the pressure on and continued to pelt the Wayland keeper with shots. Finally at the 26:57 mark Sierah Adams found the net from Taylor Pratt to put the trojans up 2-1. Haley Dehaan would find the net about 2 minutes later on a great set piece from a throw in. Taylor Pratt placed a great ball on her throw in to Allexus Barnes who headed it to Dehaan. Dehaan cut the ball out of the air and into the back of the net for a final score of 3-1.
TK outshot Wayland on the night 16-4. TK moves to 3-1 on the season and 2-0 in the OK Gold. TK travels to Cedar Springs on Saturday for an 11:45am kickoff.
