Meet Recap

2016 OK Gold Jamboree#2 Recap
In some ways it was a tough day over hill and dale at Gainey Field, for the Lady Trojans as they faced their usual OK Gold foes, but there were personal performances worth noting.
“As a team, we did not fair as well as we are capable of, but we had our usual top two out, which had an impact on our team score,” said Coach Sam Wilkinson, “However, we had a handful of personal records on the season broken today.”
Wilkinson noted personal records from freshman Audrey Meyering (21:14), who lead the team today. Other personal records were earned by junior Lauren Lutz (21:24), senior Kiley HIlton (22:16), sophomore Bree Bonema (22:17), sophomore Shylin Robirds (22:27), freshman Elizabeth Meyering (22:27), senior Allexus Barnes (23:19), and exchange students Gema Diaz-Martinez (25:10) and Clara Classen (29:47) representing Spain and Germany respectively.
“Although not everyone had a pr (personal record), and I don’t expect them to each race, we had a solid showing once again from senior Rachael Gorton (21:25) who ran third for us today, again showing her leadership by example.”
There was a shake-up on the team that was expected, but it didn’t really manifest itself until today’s meet. “With the girls we have I expected the line-up to shuffle dramatically basically every meet. Audrey Meyering really put the hammer down today and earned the number one spot today. Kiley Hilton is another who is starting to step up to where she belongs. I could go on and on, but these girls really put their heart and soul into their sport.
Additional finishers for TK today were Gracie DeWent (25:06), Stephanie Pitsch (25:27), Jaclyn Westlake (25:28), Tess Scheidel (25:51), Katie Miller (26:36), Kristina Cuison (27:23), and Sydney Coffman (29:09)
“Several of these girls are working through injuries and illness. Sarah Possett, who has been our number one so far this year battled illness until it got the best of her and was forced to drop out of the race. These girls are as tough as they come,” added Coach Wilkinson.
